What is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are fantastic qualifications that allow you to gain real-world experience in the industry of your choosing. Each Apprenticeship, has different levels which provide new and enhanced learning experiences equipping you with greater skills and knowledge. They offer amazing opportunities to progress your career.

Apprenticeships can be acquired at any time in your career. Whether you’re a senior manager or someone just starting out in a new sector, there’s always more to learn! A social care apprenticeships achieved with Alina Homecare enables you to combine the skills learnt via our exclusive Academy training, your on-the-job care and support experience to clients and service users , with learning the most recent knowledge in the field, so you’ll be the best in no time!

Apprenticeships (also known as Regulated Qualifications Framework) replaced NVQ’s (National Vocational Qualification) in 2015, to widen the scope of knowledge needed by students. It’s therefore now regarded as an even higher qualification to obtain, equipping you with everything you need to know to progress and develop in your career.

We want our teams to be a real success! Our specialist in-house Academy provides excellent training to support you be the best in your job role, and your career development with us.

Social care apprenticeships are a nationally recognised qualification that can equate to five GCSE’s or a degree, depending on the apprenticeship level chosen. If completed in under two years the apprenticeship is free for our team members.

Portfolios or areas of learning are completed for each section of your apprenticeship and consist of witness testimony’s, written answers to questions and your personal reflections. Whilst some sections are mandatory to completing your apprenticeship, others are selected by yourself, so you can shape your learning experience. At the end you’ll sit an exam and present your work. Success means you have the options to progress your career and apply for more senior roles with us or simply enjoy greater knowledge on specific areas of social care.

If you have a C or above at GCSE in Maths and English, you’re not required to do a ‘Functional Skills’ exam. Don’t worry if you don’t, our amazing teams are here to support you every step of the way!

During your induction training with us, you’ll complete your Care Certificate and mandatory training where some learnings cross reference with sections from the apprenticeship programme and you’ll also be asked to provide evidence of your Care Certificate. This means you’ll already be ahead of the game!

We want you to succeed! So our teams are on hand to support you in every way to completing your social care apprenticeship qualification. Whether it’s asking a question about delivering support or how to structure an answer in the exam, we are here to help. Whilst studying for your social care apprenticeship you’ll need to do an additional 20 hours of work per week in addition to your job role.

It’s a challenge to fit everything in so our Academy Team and managers are there to support you with this too.

Our Academy Team are highly trained professionals who have worked in the Health & Social Care industry for many years and therefore have a wealth of knowledge to share. Some of our trainers have previously been assessors for social care apprenticeships and know what examiners are looking for. It’s great to have their guidance throughout your studies.

When can I start my apprenticeship?

What types of apprenticeship are there?

There are five apprenticeship levels that we have available: Levels 2, 3, 4, & 5. Our trainers will advise you on which is the best level suited to you and your job role.

How will an apprenticeship help progress my career?

The experience and learnings you will take from completing an apprenticeship will mean you are able to apply for more senior roles such as the role of a Care Coordinator. For example, you have to have completed level 5 before becoming a Branch Manager.

I’m not good at Maths or English, can I still do an apprenticeship?

Of course! Don’t let the Maths and English functional skills exam put you off. Our Academy team are fantastic teachers and will support you in every aspect of the qualification. It’s not something to be scared of.

Will I get a mentor?

You will be designated to a supervisor who will guide you through what you need to complete. You local branch team and our Academy team are also there to support you every step of the way.
