What’s the difference between a waking night and a sleeping night?

A waking night involves your Care Worker staying awake for the entire night to help you. A sleeping night is when your Care Worker sleeps in your home for the night but is close by in case you need any support.

Why choose a waking night service?

If you need support more than twice a night

If you or your loved one needs support more than twice during the night, our waking nights service can provide necessary reassurance.

To support complex needs

Waking nights are a popular choice for people with more complex needs. If you or your loved one are recovering from surgery, have dementia or need Palliative Care, a waking night may be the best choice to give reassurance and extra peace of mind. We can provide two Overnight Care Workers for a waking night if you have specific needs such as being turned in bed.

If your loved one has dementia

If your loved one has dementia, they may become confused during the night and unsure of what time of day it is. Our Care Workers can provide calm reassurance.

Why choose a sleeping night service?

Sleeping nights are slightly different than waking nights as your Care Worker sleeps in your home in a separate room. Of course, they are still ready to help if you need them.

This is ideal if you or your loved one need occasional support, such as if you suffer with arthritis, chronic pain, or other conditions that cause discomfort while sleeping.

Sleeping nights may be sufficient if you don’t need physical care. For instance, our sleeping night service could provide reassurance if your loved one becomes anxious during the night or worries when they wake up alone.

What to expect from Overnight Care

Your Care Worker can help with getting ready for bed, administering evening doses of medication, and getting into bed.

Your Overnight Care Worker will also be there when you wake up. If you’d like help with getting up and dressed for the day, we can include this in your care plan.

Why choose Overnight Care?

Overnight Care can make the difference between staying in your own home or entering a residential facility, like a care home. Scroll sideways to explore some of the key advantages to Overnight Care:

Flexibility

We understand you might require care at any time of day or night. Overnight Care means you can rely on support when you need it, even if it’s in the middle of the night.

Reassurance

Enjoy the reassuring and calming company of our Care Workers. We don’t just provide physical care, we also provide companionship during the early and late hours of the day.

Personal Care

Overnight Care is suitable for those who usually require some care during the night, such as administering medication, turning in bed or using the bathroom.

Safety

Nights can be particularly difficult due to an increased risk of falling. Conditions like dementia can lead to ‘wandering’ during the night. Overnight Care makes living at home possible.

Peace of Mind

Leaving a vulnerable loved one alone at night can be stressful. Having an Overnight Care Worker nearby can be especially valuable if your loved one doesn’t have an alarm to ask for help.

Respite

If you provide regular care, continuing support during nights can be challenging. Overnight Care provides respite to avoid a caregiver suffering from sleep deprivation.
