How can Emergency Elderly Care help?

Hospital Discharge

Being discharged from hospital can be a worrying time. This is particularly the case if you or your loved one are recovering from an illness or surgery or feel more vulnerable than before entering the hospital. The thought of returning home without the constant support of care professionals can be unsettling.

With our Emergency Care at Home, care can be set up and ready for when you or your loved one returns home. Knowing care is already in place can provide valuable peace of mind. Emergency Live-in Care can also be provided if you or your loved one would benefit from the continuity of support after leaving the hospital.

Receiving a Diagnosis

It can be a hard and scary time receiving a diagnosis which could impact your or your loved one’s ability to live independently at home. With some conditions, such as a stroke or some types of cancer, there may be no symptoms. Receiving a diagnosis unexpectedly can be devastating.

With our Emergency Home Care, a Care Worker can be there to provide care and support for you or your loved one at short notice. At Alina Homecare, all our Care Workers have received excellent training so they can provide high quality care. They provide care and support for many conditions including dementia, Parkinson’s, Multiple Sclerosis, cancer and more.

After an Accident

More than a quarter of people aged 65 or older will experience a fall each year. This can result in not only injury but also a decrease in confidence, making living at home less comfortable.1

If you or your loved one have recently had a fall or experienced another accident and require additional support at short notice, our Emergency Home Care can help. Our Care Workers help with whatever is needed around the home to give that extra boost of confidence and peace of mind. If you or your loved one have experienced an injury from a fall, our dedicated Care Workers can help administer or apply medication and can help with pain management.

Covering for a Carer

Often, things come up unexpectedly. If you’re a caregiver for a loved one and suddenly cannot provide care for a period of time, the thought of leaving your loved one alone can be unsettling and can cause additional stress. Luckily, our Emergency Respite Care can help.

With this type of Home Care service, a Care Worker will provide care regularly in your absence, or the absence of a primary caregiver. Our fully trained and dedicated Care Workers take time to understand exact needs and routines, so nothing has to change. This can provide all important peace of mind when you or a primary caregiver experience an emergency.

What are the benefits of Emergency Care at Home?

Familiarity

Receiving Home Care in the event of an emergency allows you or your loved one to remain in a familiar environment. Being surrounded by usual comforts and being able to complete daily routines can have a positive impact on mental health and emotional wellbeing. This is especially the case if you or your loved one are returning home from hospital.

Independence

Our Emergency Care at Home service allows you or your loved one to preserve independence for as long as you choose. Staying at home means daily routines can be continued and you or your loved one can decide how to spend your time. All care plans are assessed regularly and adapted if required to meet changing needs so independence can be maintained.

Reduced Stress

Emergencies happen when you least expect and a lot of the time, leave people unprepared and can lead to feelings of worry. This is particularly the case if you or your loved one are faced with the option of having to move to a care home or other residential facility. Our Emergency Care at Home can reduce these feelings by providing a team of Care Workers at short notice.

Community

In the event of an emergency, being surrounded by friends and family and remaining in the community you know and love can bring a great deal of comfort. Knowing loved ones are nearby and can visit whenever they choose can positively boost mental wellbeing. Choosing to receive Care at Home allows this to happen which can be extremely valuable in an emergency.

Added Reassurance

Emergencies are often highly stressful and can induce extreme anxiety and worry. This is especially true if you or your loved one have experienced a situation where you are now more vulnerable or live alone. Our Emergency Home Care aims to relieve these feelings and provide support and reassurance at home for added confidence and peace of mind.

Cost Effective

Emergency Home Care or Live-in Care can be more cost effective than other alternatives such as a care home. You or your loved one can adjust the level of care required as needs change. This flexibility is useful in an emergency. In a care home, the care often isn’t one to one whereas with home care, a care worker will dedicate their focus to you or your loved one.

Cost of Emergency Care at Home

The cost of our Emergency Care at Home service is determined by different factors. Firstly, it depends on the level of care and support required. This can include the service chosen, such as visiting care or Live-in Care. It also depends on the frequency of care required and your location.

In the event of an emergency, you or your loved one may also be entitled to grants or other forms of other financial support to help with funding Home Care. Complete our cost calculator to learn more about the cost of Emergency Care at Home.

Emergency Care at Home is designed for these circumstances. With this service, Home Care can be provided at short notice. At Alina Homecare, we aim to decrease any feelings of stress and worry by arranging high quality care as soon as possible.

Is Emergency Home Care better than a care home?

Deciding whether Home Care or a care home is more suitable for you or your loved one when care is required quickly can be difficult. Ultimately, your decision depends on any care needs whilst ensuring any preferences are met where possible.

Emergency Care at Home means you or your loved one can avoid the stress and upheaval of moving to a care home. If continuous care is needed, Live-in Care is a great option.
