Dealing with Christmas’s end and Dementia

Now that Christmas is over, decorations have to come down by tonight. However, those living with individuals who have Dementia are advised to think about the rapid changes and confusion this can cause. Here’s some tips to help.

Take decorations down steadily

Take decorations down in phases day by day, so there is not too much of a difference around the home.

Take time to relax

Set aside quiet time so it doesnt become overwhelming for them.

Memories of events

Reminisce on the events of Christmas, encourage looking at photos together and explain what was happening in the photos.
