Sunflower lanyard

Sainsbury’s are trialling in selected stores, a new initiative to help customers with hidden conditions, such as dementia, autism, visual impairment and hearing difficulty, by offering them a sunflower lanyard. These indicate to staff that customers may need extra assistance such as helping to locate desired items, extra time at the checkout and the need to open additional tills. Lanyards are free to those who ask.

This initiative follows a successful trial by Gatwick airport. Other companies also getting involved include: London North Eastern Railway, other UK airports and Tesco. What a great inclusive initiative!
