Does your loved one need Home Care?

Deciding you or your loved one needs Home Care can be difficult. It may feel uncomfortable to talk about personal and intimate topics with family or friends. It may also be challenging to trust someone with intimate tasks if you or they require Personal Care services.

Choosing our professional Home Care service can help in this situation. Using our Carers reduces or eliminates the need for close family and friends to perform intimate tasks for their loved ones. They can also help bridge the gap if you live far from family or are otherwise unable to provide as much support as your loved one requires.

Of course, it can even be a challenge to recognise a loved one needs help at home. There are some questions you can ask to assess their situation:

Are they struggling to maintain routines, like bathing or oral hygiene?

Our Carers can support daily routines so life can continue the way you like. We help with anything from errands like housework to using the bathroom and hoisting, or shopping.

Does your loved one have a condition that requires additional support?

Our Carers are trained to support complex needs including for conditions like dementia, Parkinson’s and more.

Is your loved one reluctant to go into a care home?

Care at Home is a popular alternative to residential care. This is because it can be cost effective and allows you or your loved to remain in the home you love.

Is your loved one lonely or isolated?

Our Carers aren’t just professional, they’re also friendly! We can spend time with you or your loved one for valuable companionship and a listening ear.

Does your loved one have mobility issues?

Our Teams help with getting out and about, whether it be going out in the community or getting into and out of bed. Our Carers can also support with getting to, from and using the bathroom.

Paying for Home Care

The cost of Care at Home varies according to your needs. Our services are competitively priced and provide excellent value for the care we deliver.

Recently used the Alina home care service for my dad when he came home from hospital. All the carers who visited dad were very good with him. They were all respectful of him and his home and his wishes. And were patient with him. When he needed an ambulance called one of the carers made sure he was ok and stayed longer to see that he was safe and with paramedics. The daily reports from each visit is a great way to be able to keep a check on the situation and how the visit went. You can check this on the online app, and see what time the visits are set for for the following week. The manager was always great to communicate with and answer any questions. I would highly recommend this care agency and would use again if needed. Thank you.

With my wife still in hospital, I came out of my stay to live alone (aged 93) with a left arm practically useless following a fracture. My daughter then arranged daily home care. What I had not expected was that 'care' in this instance meant care for the whole person - their whole situation, unique needs and particular problems. What I got was complete and cheerful understanding, reaching way beyond what I expected, addressing my particular problems far, far beyond the call of duty.. I cannot praise Alina Farnham , and thank them., enough for all that they have done to help me.

We needed some home care for our Mum after she was diagnosed with dementia and our experience with Alina was excellent right from the start. They responded very quickly to our initial enquiry and assessed Mum needs carefully and well. The Alina carers were lovely with Mum and she formed some lovely bonds which was great to see. We were always kept well informed if Mum was not well or the carers were concerned and they were keen to offer additional help if needed. Unfortunately, Mum has now had to move to a care home but we cannot thank Alina enough for all the help they gave us.

From the initial home visit assessment by the Alina Manager to discuss home care needs for my wife everything was explained very clearly and I felt at ease straight away. When the home care started the carer arrived on the times arranged and carried out her work in a very professional way. A friendly person who my wife took a liking to immediately .It has been very difficult at times caring for my wife for 2 & half years who suffers with Vascular Dementia but now that Alina have taken on morning home care it has made so much difference to both our lives. A big thank you to Alina Maidstone

I've been using Alina Home Care for over the last 6 months I asked to not have to many different carers as I have a lot of personal care and Autism. The managers helped me to get a bespoke package of care to fit my needs and made me feel part of this as well, and helped explain things to me. I can't express how much my carers and the manager has helped me and how complex some of the obstacles have been but Alina has and still are to get me through all of them. I have full time care with Alina and couldn't be happier and would definitely recommend Alina, especially for any loved ones as they are extremely trustworthy and are on top of safeguarding and keeping you safe. Lastly I would just like to say the carers I have go above and beyond every time they come, they make me smile when I'm lonely, and help get me back to normal if I get into a state with my health.

Alina Home care Bromsgrove have been brilliant we started with them in February/March 25 with just a couple of visits a week to start with and this then developed into 4 times a day in line with mums needs, they accommodated visits around her needs with efficiency and dignity from the admin office down to the carers themselves and I must say the carers that have come in to help mum have been a credit to the company they have gone above and beyond in caring for mum and this has been very much appreciated. They have taken the time to have a chat whilst also caring to her needs. The app that they use also gives you the opportunity to see what is happening on that day, so you are always kept up to date. If you are looking for a care company, I would fully recommend Alina Home Care.

Time keeping is excellent and the carer brings a positive attitude with every visit. This helps us so much to get through the day.

Right from the "get-go" my husband and I found your North Bristol team wonderful! We were both in our 80s and finding living in our flat with no help increasingly challenging (Parkinsons & Lymphodema). Through Bristol North we received professional help from upwards of 10 carers at varying times of day., Some were completely new to the profession but were admirably supervised by the manager and her colleague. We are now both resident in a Care Home but will always appreciate what Alina Home Care Provider did for us at a difficult juncture.

Following a major operation in December, my daughter researched possible home care providers to assist me when discharged. Alina Homecare responded to her enquiry the same day and agreed to a very reasonably priced care package to operate from the following week. The carers have been first class - professional, efficient, kind and caring. They arrive on time, happily attend to my needs and carry out household tasks which I am not able for yet. They make very helpful suggestions regarding full rehabilitation for me to consider without pressure and offer full support. The management backup has been first class. As a professional myself, I recognise the excellence of the care assessment at the outset and the careful reviews subsequently undertaken to ensure that all my needs are covered. They are also very flexible about any changes to time and length of care input to suit my individual and changing needs which is first class. I highly recommend Alina Homecare - excellent in every way.

My parents have been receiving support from Alina Homecare since July 2024. The service they receive is excellent and we have not experienced any of the problems you often hear about with home care. The carers are reliable, professional and person-centred. The personal care is provided with kindness and dignity, respecting Mum's wishes and supporting her to undertake as much as she can independently. They also prepare several meals a week for my parents, which is a big help. The office staff are responsive and helpful and always try to accommodate our requests to adjust the care support. On several occasions, they have alerted me to specific concerns about my parents that I wouldn't otherwise be aware of. I do not live locally so the app is a great way for me to monitor how things are and it helps provide peace of mind. In summary, I am extremely grateful to everyone at Alina Homecare for the care they are providing to my parents - thank you all.

Alina Home Care North Bristol are a really great team of care providers. Their communication is excellent and they demonstrate a genuinely person-centred approach. The office team were great when we needed help and with getting care organized at a really tricky time. They came to see us and talked us through everything and they were always on hand to answer queries by phone (at all hours). The carers were calm, kind, efficient, considerate and cheery. They looked after Mum (and the cats!) so well and they supported Mum to live in her own home for as long as she could. They made a huge difference to her quality of life, allowing her to be as autonomous as possible in the face of ever-encroaching Parkinson's Disease. Thank you all.

I am writing regarding the home care service my relative is receiving from Alina. We are all impressed with the support from everyone involved at Alina. The assessment process was arranged very quickly, was very smooth, sensitive, professional and thorough. One member of staff in particular was just so reassuring. Carers (mainly two in particular) were identified for my sister-in-law that have built a fantastic relationship and are always very thoughtful and kind. She really values their care and support. Initially she was receiving 3 visits a week. Soon after this needed to be increased to every day and then twice a day. This was all managed so well by the team and the same care workers have remained involved. The consistency of both carers and the timing of visits has been fantastic.

I contacted Alina when I came out of the hospital after surgery and needed more help than I anticipated. Other care companies would not take me on for a short contract. They came to see me the next day, discussed what I needed and agreed to put a package in place for a week, extendable if required, (which was). I was made aware of all charges up front, nothing was extra or added on when I wasn't looking. I received several calls to make sure everything was okay over the time I used them. I was lucky enough to be cared for by the most charming, lovely, thoughtful, kind and respectful young lady I could have wished for. I have been a domiciliary carer and have worked with some far-from-caring carers. Not so in this case. I suppose it all depends on the carer assigned to you, but in my case, I could not be more grateful for her help.

I have been a client of Alina Home Care from September 2022 to October 2023, originally to get me up in the mornings but as my illness has progressed during the past year I now have them at night as well. I can honestly say they are exceptional. As I am now housebound, their carers have made life easier in every way they can. Help with personal care and more mundane things such as getting the washing machine and dishwasher loaded. One of their actions is to write their notes to a central office where each of the other carers can read and act upon when they next visit It helps them and me because I might forget sometimes As I have previously stated their care is exceptional and their regular training days keep the carers up to date. I would highly recommend them.

It had been a very difficult time deciding on the care needed at home for my husband after he was discharged from hospital. From the very first phone call with the Alina home care team, we were put at ease. A team member came and spoke to me at home to discuss what help we required, what time in the day was better for us, how many visits a day would be required etc, they listened and answered all my questions (I had a lot), at no time did I feel uncomfortable. All the carers are very polite and friendly and have been very understanding and kind to my husband (and also me), they always take time with him so he doesn’t feel rushed. Nothing is too hard for them and they treat my father with dignity, kindness and respect and are happy to have a laugh with him which he loves. They are also very kind and supportive of my mother who has been exhausted in her caring role. Communication with the branch manager is easy and she is always available and happy to help and it works brilliantly as she also does care shifts for Dad so understands the situation clearly. My parents had a fall in August 2021 and were suddenly in need of care at home. The manager and her colleague visited to meet my parents and gather information about them and their health, and to explain in detail about the services they were able to offer. It was a period of considerable adjustment for my parents who had been living independently. From October, my father's health was deteriorating rapidly and carers were visiting four times a day. My father wanted to stay at home and, with the help and support of the carers, this was possible. The carers' detailed reports were very helpful; in addition, the manager would follow up on any issues of concern. The level of care changed according to my father's needs and, as he approached end of life, the manager and her team were excellent; they were considerate and understanding, and provided emotional support for the whole family. We are grateful that my mother continues to have a morning visit from the carers.

Since early 2021, Alina has provided home care for our 79-year-old mum who has dementia. We were anxious initially with no prior experience but the service has been exceptional. The agency itself has been highly professional, alerting us to any concerns they have or queries relating to the care and wellbeing of our mum. Every member of staff we have dealt with has been really helpful and responsive, adding in visits or changing times even at short notice. Most importantly, the care and support the team has provided to our mum has been superb. She tells us about her 'lovely ladies' and, whilst she doesn't always remember their names, she describes the different personalities and how they have helped her - talking about flowers and nature on a walk, having a good chat and a laugh or cooking her a particularly nice dinner. We are so grateful for the quality of care we have from Alina and couldn't recommend them highly enough. They have given us complete peace of mind.

Our relatively independent 93 year old mother suffered a catastrophic fall back in April 2020, rendering her completely dependent upon others to meet her most basic needs. In possession of her mental faculties, Mum (and we) had to come to terms with her being hoisted, which was a massive adjustment to make both physical and emotional. My sister and I can confirm that the high dependency package of care provided by Alina is second to none, having witnessed their kindness, respect and compassion first hand. New to the concept of home care, the day we managed to transfer our mother's care to Alina was a day for celebration. Everyone we spoke to prior echoed the same comment 'Your mum will be in safe hands with Alina.' Carers are clearly highly experienced, confident and efficient, yet our mother confirms she never feels rushed, which is reassuring. Both carers and office colleagues are friendly and willing to listen and react to any questions we may have. We are 100% happy with Alina of Bromsgrove.

My neighbour in Burpham has been receiving home care visits for over a year. Until recently she seemed to have an ever-changing rota of carers. She has dementia and I noticed this just confused her as she didn't have a chance to get to know any of them. The majority of them seemed to just want to be in and out as quickly as possible. Fortunately, she now seems to have a regular carer who I cannot praise highly enough. She is kind, caring and goes over and above to make sure my neighbour has eaten and is comfortable. Please, please keep this person as her main carer.

My elderly mother has been receiving care from Alina Homecare for the past month or so, and I have been so impressed by the service provided. The Carers are all lovely - very caring and professional. They give time and care and a listening ear, and although inevitably there is a time pressure, they never give the impression of having to hurry the client. They have taken the time to really get to know her as a person and not just as someone who needs care. I have really appreciated the continuity of care with just having three or four main carers rather than a different person each day. They all show patience and understanding of my mother’s needs. I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending Alina Home Care.

All the carers have been very friendly and helpful over the last 18 months. Their concern when my husband passed away in February was helpful and comforting. I would recommend Alina Home Care to anyone that should ask. I would like to thank them all for their help and understanding.

I arranged increased care visits for my mother (90) after she had had a few falls at home. An independent intelligent person who definitely wants to stay at home, my mother now has care visits throughout the day, the majority from Alina. I've met several of the carers, who are helpful and friendly and treat my mother in a friendly, engaging way which she appreciates — and needs. It is company as well as care when they are there. The head office has attended promptly to any queries or requests/suggestions about care. They are reactive and responsive. During the ongoing pandemic, for months carers were the only visitors my mother got, which made their role crucial to both her physical and mental well-being. During a recent fall an Alina carer stayed with my mother until the paramedic arrived, facilitated by the head office which swapped visits around. Proper, responsive care. Domiciliary carers need parity with care-home carers in terms of Government Covid support and testing.

After suffering from a stroke in February 2020, my mum returned home to receive full care, 4 double visits per day. Having been disabled all her life yet very independent the thought of 'strangers' coming into the home for Mum and my family was a lot to comprehend. From the first moment the girls stepped foot into the house, they were completely empathetic and compassionate. Mum has built up a fantastic relationship with the girls and looks forward to their visits every day. The level of care and compassion that each of the carers show towards Mum and my dad each and every day is truly commendable. Only a few weeks after Mum returned home, the UK declared its lockdown, we were unable to visit and support Mum and Dad in the ways we normally would. Knowing Alina Homecare were going in daily was a huge comfort to us, knowing that Mum's personal care and hygiene would be their top priority and given that she was confined to her bedroom and no-one else could visit they keep her (and my dad!!) sane!! THANK YOU FROM US ALL. All the carers are fantastic, but I would especially like to shout out to the two who do Mum's morning calls. I cannot thank these girls enough for the hardwork and care they put into their job. Myself & my sisters cannot thank you enough. I would also like to highlight how great the back office staff are. From the moment we were referred to Alina, a member of staff came out to meet my mum in hospital. He was compassionate and helped us to fully understand what home care entailed, and was really professional. The office staff have also been especially helpful. Over the phone during all hours of the day they have supported us with any queries we've had and have come out to do several home visits, ensuring that they had met with my mum making us feel confident they had that personal touch. During the worldwide pandemic we are all faced with - they have not once let us down! THANK YOU!!

Just a few words - but a very big thank you to all at Alina for helping. My friend has not had any care at home before - so, was very nervous about the whole idea, but from the very start he was put at his ease. First with a visit from the assessor, obviously used to putting people with Dementia at ease, she explained the whole procedure with great care and just the right amount of detail so he easily understood what would happen, she kindly reassured him and treated him and his questions so respectfully. Then the lovely ladies who have helped with the shower etc I wish I could name each one, but computer says no! Each one so prompt, polite and extremely professional - but with a lovely smile, a friendly way with them, a joke or two as they go about their work, they have left the bed made, the bathroom clean and clear and my friend in a very much better, happier frame of mind (never mind as fresh as a daisy) than when they arrive. Your staff are a credit to you and your thorough training.

Alina Homecare have looked after my mother for around 5 years now and I can honestly say during that period they have gone out of their way to help mum and provide kind and considerate care at home. Also going out of their way when mum started to wander, looking for her and even taking her home and even into their office for a cup of tea. Mum began to get very confused and would constantly phone Alina - out of hours too, but they were never bothered and said to me 'don't worry, we are happy to speak to her, at least we know she is at home and safe'.

Alina Homecare in Hemel Hempstead have been caring for my mother-in-law since December 2018 starting with just a few visits a week, however, her condition has deteriorated rapidly and she now has several visits each day. The carers have all been brilliant and there are one or two of her regular carers who are absolutely outstanding! I find the management at Alina very good, readily available on the phone or in person, easy to talk to and open to consider whatever we feel would be best for Mum. Alina have been able to change/increase her care package remarkably quickly which has made things run smoothly for us and knowing that the carers are there so often has taken a lot of pressure off the family. Yes, there may be the occasional change to staff or timing that upsets Mum but they are always ready to listen and try to solve any problems. I would highly recommend the Hemel Hempstead branch of Alina Homecare to anyone needing home care for themselves or their loved ones in this area.

Quick questions

What is Home Care?

We have a guide to help answer the question ‘What is Home Care?‘ Also known as Home Care, Care at Home is personalised support that enables you to stay at home for longer. Sometimes we need a little more support than usual – and Care at Home is a way of receiving assistance where you feel most comfortable. Whether it’s home help with daily tasks, medication, getting ready for the day or assistance after an accident, our Teams can help in making your life easier.

How does Home Care work?

Home Care is a flexible service tailored to your specific needs. We work with you to agree a care plan with as much care as you need and including the support you need. For some people, this might be companionship and help with daily housekeeping tasks. For others, this could mean more specialist help like hoisting, or even continuous 24 Hour Home Care and Live-in Care.

What is the difference between Home Care & Live-in Care?

The main difference is that Home Care involves a Carer visiting you throughout the day and these visits can be as little as 30 minutes. On the other hand, Live-in Care involves your Carer moving in with you full time. Either way, you’ll receive quality care in the comfort of your home. With Live-in Care, enjoy continuous support and reassurance that there’s someone in the home all day if you need any help. There are lots of types of Home Care available, from Companionship Care to Personal Care and more specialist support services for conditions such as dementia and strokes. If you need help overnight, you could opt for a Live-in Carer or choose our Waking Nights service.

What’s included?

Home Care can be whatever you want it to be! Our range of services include Personal Care, Domestic Care, Companion Care, Palliative Care and Respite Care. We also offer Live-in Care and Overnight Care if a waking night or sleeping night service is what you need.

How much does a Home Carer cost per hour?

Home Care costs vary depending on many factors. Costs will be determined by the type of care needed, how often it’s needed and where you or your loved one live. Most of our Home Care services are charged on an hourly or part-hourly basis to ensure care remains fully flexible and changeable to suit your needs. However, if Overnight Care or Live-in Care is required, costs can be charged at a fixed rate. To learn more about how much Home Care costs, contact your local Alina Homecare Team for a more comprehensive cost assessment.

When should I consider Home Care?

Everyone’s process of preparing for Home Care is different. We can help in any circumstance. You or your loved one may be feeling overwhelmed, there could be an emergency, your main caregiver may be away, or you may simply like some company. We tailor our Home Care to suit your individual needs, so you can receive as much or as little help as necessary.

Is it suitable if I need specialist Home Care?

Absolutely. We can include more specialist services for conditions like Multiple Sclerosis , Parkinson’s, dementia, cancer and more. If necessary, we can also arrange for a second Care Worker to help during your visit if you have more complex needs.

Where can I read reviews?

You can hear firsthand from many of our clients on our homecare.co.uk profile as well as Google Business. We’re proudly recommended by 97% of our clients!

How do I get home help?

Home help is just a phone call or email away! Shortly after contacting us, your nearest Alina Homecare Team will be in touch to better understand your needs and how we can help. After a free no obligation consultation held at your home, the Team will create a detailed and tailored Home Care plan for you and discuss costs. With your agreement, the care delivery can begin.

Why should I choose Home Care vs a care home?

Home Care is great for those who wish to remain in the comfort of their home but need extra support. Moving into a residential care facility can be daunting and many prefer to remain in a familiar environment surrounded by special memories. Home Care also provides personalised support that’s conducted in a manner to suit your needs and preferences. Unfortunately, care homes can’t provide the same level of dedicated and personalised care. In a care home, staff attention is shared between multiple residents. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and what you think would work best for you. Read our guide comparing Home Care with care homes.

How quickly can care be arranged?

We operate a responsive service. We work wherever possible to your timings and work very hard to ensure your care is in place when it’s needed. In most instances, we’re able to install care within 48 hours of initial contact, sometimes sooner if required. If you need Emergency Care, please contact your local Alina Homecare Team.

How does Alina Homecare compare to an introductory agency?

Introductory agencies are not regulated and quality cannot be guaranteed. We provide fully regulated services that are inspected by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). We also provide full and exclusive training for our Care Workers, whereas private Carer and agency Carers may not have comprehensive training. In addition to this, our services are also backed up with central support; this means you can count on us even if your Care Worker needs time off as our local Team can step in to ensure continuity of care.

What areas do you cover?

We provide care across the South of England. Find your local Team.

How is Home Care monitored?

Our branches are registered with the CQC, the independent regulator of health and adult social care in England. Their ratings reflect our commitment to quality assured care and gives you added confidence that our services meet the highest quality standards.

In addition to this, we are proud to partner with Birdie Care. Birdie’s innovative care technology enables us to digitally log and monitor the support we provide. The Birdie Family App, with your consent, also allows full visibility of care at any time for you and your loved ones. It’s a great way of providing added reassurance that you’re receiving the highest quality care.
